Bill graduated from University of Queensland in 1963 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
Initially he returned to Victoria where he worked in the racehorse industry and started a business in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and feed additives. Later he operated a successful horse stud, an instant lawn farm and an agistment property.
In 1989 he acquired the Morningside property and in the mid 1990s obtained some of the first Wagyu genetics in Australia and founded Shadai Wagyu.
Bill's experience in livestock feeding and the manufacture of feed additives has been instrumental in working with David Blackmore to develop a Wagyu-specific feed ration that results in high marbling.
His understanding of animal welfare and pedigree breeding is unmatched.
Mark Ebert is a fourth generation beef cattle veteran with more than 30 years experience originally from the Riverina where he gained a thorough grounding in modern breeding practices by working with Riverina Artificial Breeders for 6 years.
He has vast experience in bull breeding, having managed the large scale program at Condobolin for the iconic S. Kidman & Co.
In 2000 he commenced working for an Australian industry pioneer, Westholme Wagyu, where he became Livestock Manager and played a key role in the development of the herd which resulted in the record-price acquisition of Westholme by AACo in 2006.
In 2006 Mark commenced with Shadai Wagyu and has been critical in developing the herd into an elite operation with a breeding philosophy which produces well conformed, highly marbled, good tempered and large seedstock animals with an uncompromising focus on fertility and maternal traits. His depth of knowledge and experience is unrivalled in the industry.
Originally from Queensland, and with an interest and background in the equine industry, Kier joined the operation in 2008 and has translated her knowledge and understanding of racehorse pedigrees to the Wagyu breeding program at Shadai Wagyu.
She is an animal lover (to say the least) and treats each and every animal with an extremely high level of care and attention.
With an intuitive understanding of the animals, she plays an important role in the breeding and development of the herd.
